Check It Out: PEN/Ms. Magazine Online Event About Iranian Political Prisoner Nasrin Sotoudeh

| revcom.us

International human rights organizations have spoken out about the intensifying repression in Iran. On Monday, December 21, the international writers’ organization PEN and feminist magazine Ms. are hosting a special virtual event about Nasrin Sotoudeh, the imprisoned human rights attorney. The online conversation includes writer Margaret Atwood (author of The Handmaid's Tale), New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, the directors of the documentary film NASRIN, and a message from Nasrin Sotoudeh’s husband.

We urge our readers to register and log in to this event to unite with and learn from this effort and, where appropriate, to enter into the online chat—as part of amplifying the campaign called by burn_the_cage and make it a global struggle as expressed in the statement “We Demand Justice and Freedom for All Political Prisoners in Iran NOW“ that calls on people to stand and act in solidarity. The statement can be signed here.
