From a Brother in South Central LA

November 14, 2014 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us

My view of BA and brother Cornel, I believe that two people can come together and push the revolution as far as an atheist and a Christian believer. A revolution is something that’s needed if they’re not going to do right by the masses and they’re not trying to do right by the masses. I believe that the two of these brothers can come together and make it happen.

I would rather be there in New York so I could talk to BA, and talk to Cornel, and talk to the masses. From what opened my eyes and my mind from growing up right here in South Central, I understand that a revolution is needed. These two brothers have to put aside whatever their beliefs are to make a revolution come true. With my religious beliefs here as a Christian I believe it’s a positive thing and I support it. I believe in what you all are trying to push when it comes to ending it all with peace and real rights for the people all over the world that is minorities that are being killed by the police and are being bamboozled by the governments.  I have a disposition and a calling in my life that’s beyond me trying to be a Crip gang member and participating in this struggle here is awakening up that call every day more and more. Everyday that I get a little from Cornel and a little from Bob Avakian to where I should really be heading in life to try to do something to make a change and better someone’s life. I just want to be supportive now in what’s going on and I want to be a participant if possible in New York with the brothers and sisters that’s involved in the revolution. No doubt in my mind that a Christian and an atheist can come together whenever you trying to embetterment the people and stop all police brutality.

That’s about what I believe right now and what I been feeling in my heart. All the brothers around here that’s in my gang, claiming this gang—like BA says we believe we own these blocks and these corners and we really don’t own nothing because we don’t have no deeds, no ownership of no stores or no markets—but they allow us to stay here and make us believe we do. Wake up every morning, sell drugs on the corner, gang bang and kill each other. It’s self-destruction. They know it and they’re allowing it. Now that I been awakened, it saddens me to see my brothers and sisters waking up every morning and coming to these corners and blocks and gangbanging and throwing up them signs that represent the gangs that really don’t have no significance, no kind of morals that can better my people. It’s all just self-destruction. I was blind to it but now that I can see it. I feel like the people who follow Bob Avakian and Cornel. I understand there’s something better than us killing each other.

Nobody likes to get played. I feel like I been played. So I’m trying to wake up my brothers and sisters so they can see what we’re doing to one another. And try to give them some kind of knowledge, wisdom and understanding so they can join the revolution here.
