Cleveland, July 18: Hundreds Rally and Protest in March to End Poverty

July 18, 2016 | Revolution Newspaper | revcom.us

On the first day of the RNC, hundreds joined a “March to End Poverty NOW,” demanding a raise in the minimum wage, saving the environment, protecting immigrant rights, and end to police brutality. The day kicked off with a rally at 1 pm that ended with a short performance by Prophets of Rage—which includes Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Chuck D of Public Enemy, B-Real of Cypress Hill and others. The Prophets of Rage are playing a concert tomorrow in Cleveland for the first stop of their national “Make America Rage Again” tour. Before the last song, Morello said the group and the crowd—who had gathered with “joy and militancy”—were all going to march through the streets to the RNC site.
