On Day 2 of the Democratic National Convention...

Protesting Police Murder of Black People

Hundreds marched through the streets demanding an end to police murder, and freedom for political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal. Chants included “Don’t vote for Hillary! She’s killingBblack people!” And “Who do you protect? Not us! Who do you serve? Not us!” As the march neared Wells Fargo Center where the Democratic National Convention is taking place, the marchers were joined by supporters of Bernie Sanders who had walked out of the convention after Hillary Clinton was nominated.

A “Wall of Love” to Protect LGBT People

Hundreds of people formed a “Wall of Love” to protect LGBT people from lunatic fascists from the Westboro Baptist Church. The Westboro fascists were at the Mazzoni Center, which provides healthcare services to the LGBT community. Defenders of the center carried signs ridiculing Christian fundamentalism, and chanted “Fascists go home!”

Protests, Flag Burnings:

During the day Tuesday a wide variety of protests were scheduled, including against police murder and for freeing political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, in support of Palestine, and to end the war on drugs and legalize marijuana. Many protesters, reportedly joined by Bernie Sanders supporters in some cases, stayed in the streets until late into the evenings, with marches becoming rowdier, and a number ultimately converging near the Wells Fargo Convention Center.

At one protest, American and Israeli flags were burned, reportedly generating sharp controversy and debate among the crowd. CBS reported, “people gathered around the burning flag are heard chanting, ‘Feel the Bern!’ Meanwhile, an Israeli flag was also torched... Demonstrators around her chanted, ‘Long live the intifada…’”

Day 3

Stop Police Murder and Terror! PROTEST...Hillary Clinton: Drenched with the Blood of Millions:

Today the Revolution Club staged a rolling protest march through downtown Philadelphia, stopping at street corners to rally and speak out. They denounced “this whole rotten-ass illegitimate system which wantonly murders our people and just this morning let off the remaining killer cops who were on trial for the murder of #FreddieGray,” distributed many hundreds of copies of the message “Time to Get Organized for an ACTUAL Revolution,” promoted the leadership of Bob Avakian, and called on people to come to a showing of clips from BA Speaks: REVOLUTION—NOTHING LESS!.

All told, hundreds stopped at one point or another to listen. At one point the Revolution Club—in formation—came on stage and addressed a well-attended street corner rally of Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein (Green Party) supporters. Noche Diaz spoke, exposing the Sanders program, calling for real revolution, and promoting the Constitution for the New Socialist Republic in North America.
